Orvin C. Gardner

Orvin C. Gardner, age 81, of Viroqua, died Wednesday, June 13, 2018. On June 13, 2018, Orvin C. Gardner, age 81, passed away at the Bland-Bekkedal Center for Hospice in Viroqua surrounded by family. He was born September 9, 1936, in Viroqua to Clarence and Mildred (Thompson) Gardner. He graduated from Viroqua High School in 1955. After graduating, he ran bulldozers for Eldon Traastad until serving in the 2nd Armored Division of the U.S. Army for a couple of years. On April 30, 1966, he married Donna Holt. He farmed the family farm for the rest of his life. He was the mechanic for a number of local farmers. He also worked part-time at Carquest in Viroqua delivering parts for a number of years. He was a lifelong member of the Liberty Pole United Methodist Church. Orvin is survived by; two sons Brian (Tammy) Gardner of Viroqua and Darin Gardner of Westby, one daughter Stacy (Jeff) Matson of Stoddard and six grandchildren; Amanda (Ray) Huggins, Faith, Jacob and Riley Gardner, and Alan and Otto Matson. He is also survived by; one brother, Eldon (Judy) Gardner, and other extended family. He was preceded in death by; his wife Donna on April 18, 2012; his parents; one brother, Thomas; and infant grandchildren. Blessed be our memories of Orvin Gardner. Funeral Services will be Wednesday June 20, 2018 at 11:00 AM at Liberty Pole United Methodist Church. Pastor Jean Waldron will officiate with burial immediately following at the Liberty Pole Cemetery. Friends may call during a visitation Tuesday June 19, 2018 at the Vosseteig-Larson Funeral Home in Viroqua from 4:00-6:00 PM, or from 10:00-11:00 AM at the church before the service.
