Othmar "Oats" Meier

Othmar “Oats” Meier, age 86, passed away July 14, 2026. He was born December 29, 1939, in Monroe, Wisconsin, to William and Elizabeth Meier.

Oats attended grade school in Folsom, Vernon County, and high school in Readstown. After high school, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. He later worked at the American Motors plant in Kenosha before beginning a 35-year career with Michael’s Construction. Following his retirement, Oats spent 20 winters fishing in Florida. He traveled extensively and especially enjoyed exploring Switzerland and visiting family there.

He is survived by his wife, Marlene; his sons, Greg (Angie), Randy (Kami); daughter, Heidi (Craig) Stovey; eight granddaughters; one grandson; and two sisters, Diane Adams and Betty (Rick) Stanek.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Marlies McKibbon; and brother-in-law, Mike Adams.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, July 18, 2026, at St. Philip Catholic Church, Rolling Ground, at 11:00 AM. Visitation will be from 9:00 AM until the time of service. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Online condolences may be expressed at vossfh.com.
