Patricia "Pat" Johnson, age 84 of Viroqua, died Thursday, February 5, 2009 . Patricia Terry Johnson, age 84 of Viroqua, died on Thursday, February 5, 2009 at the Vernon Memorial Hospital in Viroqua after suddenly collapsing at her home with her friend Penny and her daughter-in-law Mary at her side. She was born on October 7, 1924 in DeSoto, Wisconsin to Elmer and Ruth Sletten. During WWII, she lived in California with her sister Leda, where they worked building ships and airplanes for the defense effort. Upon her return to DeSoto in 1946, she met and married Lincoln Johnson and they resided in Viroqua where they raised their family of four sons. Patricia was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was fiercely dedicated to her family. Throughout her life, Patricia was passionate about preserving the environment and all elements of nature. She loved caring for her garden, flowers and home. Her pets brought her great satisfaction and comfort. In recent time she was blessed with the special friendship and assistance of Penny Inman and Bradley Turben. Her neighbors, Clarence and Anne Nordin were counted among her good friends. Patricia is survived by her four sons: Terry (Marlene) of Longwood, Florida, Rick (Mary) of Chaseburg, Wisconsin, Dennis (Cynthia) of Hendersonville, Tennessee and Lyder (Simone) Johnson of New Smyrna Beach, Florida; seven grandchildren: Todd (Jennifer) Johnson of Melbourne Beach, Florida, Ryan Johnson of Apopka, Florida, Sara (Barry) Mohn of Oakland, California, Matthew Johnson of LaCrosse, Wisconsin, Eric Johnson of Chaseburg, Wisconsin, Lincoln Johnson of Orlando, Florida, and Cearra Johnson of Orlando, Florida; five great-grandchildren: Raquel and Blake Johnson of Melbourne Beach, Florida, Keagen and Dakota Johnson of Viroqua, Wisconsin and Ila Mohn of Oakland, California; other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lincoln Johnson on December 24, 1990; her sister, Leda, and her brother, Albin.Funeral services were held on Thursday, February 12, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at the Westby Coon Prairie Lutheran Church. Pastor Dennis Hallemeier officiated. Honorary pallbearers were: Todd Johnson, Ryan Johnson, Matthew Johnson, Eric Johnson, Lincoln Johnson and Blake Johnson. Burial was in the DeSoto Cemetery. Friends called on Wednesday from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Vosseteig-Larson Funeral Home, 123 W. Decker in Viroqua.
