Paul B. Penchi, Sr.

Paul Bernard Penchi, age 83, died Tuesday April 17, 2018. Paul was born in Genoa WI on May 26, 1934 to Joseph and Cecelia (Ronkowski) Penchi. Paul worked for Nash-Rambler, then worked on the Railroads as a signal engineer, and then drove for the Genoa Creamery. He started farming in 1958 as a dairy farmer plus farmed tobacco. In 1959, at St. Charles Catholic Church in Genoa, he married the love of his life, Eloda Mae Howell. Together they had nine children. Paul loved to polka at the Concordia, Avalon and at the Genoa Power Plant and would take Eloda to the FREE shows in Romance. He would spend weekends fishing, hunting, enjoying picnics and playing softball or pool. After retiring, he was an active member and officer of the Eagles Club Aerie #2707. He enjoyed playing Euchre weekly. Paul still found time first and foremost to be a friend to all. A caregiver to his brothers and parents. Paul spent time thanking the Lord for his blessings as being very religious by nature just scratches the surfaces of how deeply devoted he truly was. Paul is survived today by: his wife of 58-plus years Eloda, his children, Pauline Walsh, Mary Lowe, Joan Rogers, Francis Penchi, Carol Jackson, Paul Penchi Jr., Patrick (Amy) Penchi, Peter (Anastasia) Penchi, and Rose (Daniel) Kelley, as well as 14 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by: his parents, his siblings, and one granddaughter. God bless our memories of Paul. A Funeral Mass for Paul will be Monday April 23, 2018 at 11:00AM at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Viroqua. Father Michael Klos and Father Tom Kelley will celebrate the Mass with luncheon following and then proceed to the burial in St. Charles Catholic Cemetery in Genoa. Friends may call during a visitation on Sunday April 22, 2018 from 1:00 3:00 P.M. at the Vosseteig Funeral Home in Viroqua, also one-hour before the service from 10 to 11 at the church on Monday.
