Paul E. MacFarland, age 78 of Westby, died Tuesday, September 11, 2007 Paul Edward MacFarland, age 78 of Westby passed away Tuesday, September 11, 2007. He was born in LaValle, WI to James and Esther (Kinser) MacFarland on April 25, 1929. He attended LaValle and Tony, WI schools and graduated from Tony High School. He moved to La Crosse and attended printing school at Western Technical Institute. He moved to Westby and worked for the Westby Times for 42 years. He was employed for many years by the Westby Area Schools as a bus driver, which he enjoyed very much. He also enjoyed in his retirement working for the City of Westby for 12 years as Zoning Administrator. He was an active member of Bethesda Lutheran Church and served as treasurer for many years and also as trustee and on the cemetery board. In 1953 he was married to Betty Rognstad. They were married 54 years. They have four children: David (Trinie) MacFarland of La Crosse; Dan MacFarland of Westby; Ann (Tim) Ferkingstad of La Crescent; Sara (Kelly) Yuds of Fall River, WI. He also is survived by six grandchildren: Rachel and Trina MacFarland, Laura and Erin Ferkingstad, and Eric and Lindsey Yuds; three sisters: Joyce (Armand) Nobel of Burns OR; Lorraine (Donald) Johnson of Burbank, WA; Sharon (Alan) Day of Aurora, OR; two brothers: Charles and Billy Potter also of Oregon. He is further survived by a host of relatives and friends.He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers: Robert and Ellis; one sister: Helen Cummings. His family, and especially his grandchildren, were his joy. He loved his Lord and Savior above all, and is now at home in his heavenly home. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 15, 2007 at the Bethesda Lutheran Brethren Church, 210 W. Park St., Westby, WI. Pastor Lindell Quam will officiate with burial in the Bethesda Cemetery, rural Westby. Friends may call on Friday from 4 7 at the Vosseteig Funeral Home, 708 S. Main St., Hwy 14 S. in Westby. Friends may also call from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service on Saturday. The Vosseteig Funeral Home of Westby is serving the family.
