Pauline Fern Montgomery-Moran, age 93, of Soldiers Grove, passed away peacefully on December 27, 2020. She was born in Crawford County to Kermit and Alma (Olson) Adams on May 20, 1927. Pauline was the eldest of two girls growing up on her parents' farm in Soldier Grove, Wis. She attended school in Soldiers Grove and lived her entire life not far from where she was born. On November 3, 1942, she married Basil Montgomery. Together, Pauline and Basil raised three children: Douglas, Dennis and Kandis. In 2008, Pauline found a new love and married Eugene P Moran. His presence added an excitement and laughter to her life. It also brought nine stepchildren, 11 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. During her life, Pauline was always active in various organizations. In 1952, she became a charter member of the William Schoville Post 220 American Legion Auxiliary and remained a lifelong member of that organization. She was also a long-time member of the Order of the Eastern Star where she served in many positions including Worthy Matron. Pauline was also involved in the North Crawford Rescue Squad. Pauline loved music, shopping, sewing, crocheting, and cooking. We will always remember her oyster stew around the holidays and her tiniest of crochet work. Pauline was preceded in death by her parents; both of her husbands; son, Dennis; grandson, Kevin Halverson; and a great-grandson, Joshua Kranbeer. She is survived by her son, Douglas (Jeanette) of Verona; a daughter, Kandis Turben of Soldiers Grove; one daughter-in-law, Connie Montgomery of Viola, nine grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; and great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Dolores Sachtjen of Poynette. She is further survived by the Moran Family and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 24, 2021, at Vosseteig-Larson Funeral Home in Viroqua. Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service. A private burial will be held at the Montgomeryville Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Legion William Schoville Post 220 Auxiliary or the North Crawford Rescue Squad.
