Phillip Ross Townsend

Phillip R. Townsend, age 55, of Readstown, passed away Thursday, May 16, 2024, at his home. He was born on February 26, 1969, in Richland Center to Donald and Vivian (Phillips) Townsend. Phil attended Kickapoo Area Schools and later attended Western Area Tech in Viroqua. Phil held several jobs, including with the Village of Readstown, Carney’s Kickapoo Dairy Service, Sunrise Orchards, and he most presently worked at Rush Creek Ranch in Retreat. He proudly served on the Readstown Fire Department & EMS for many years. Phil loved to talk, cook, loved his nieces and nephews and always found time to be with them and other family. He was known for teasing his great nieces and nephews. He loved to sing and dance and also enjoyed deer and coon hunting. More than anything, he was always willing to help anyone. His spirit and infectious laugh will be missed by all who knew him. Blessed be our memories of Phillip R. Townsend.

Survivors include his siblings, Connie (Mike) Rakovec, Lonna (Gene) Rakovec, Glenda Townsend, Tammy (Joel) Oppriecht, Roseanna (Mike) Welsh, and Donny Townsend; many nieces and nephews; many great nieces and nephews; other relatives and many friends.

Phil was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Kevin Townsend; his infant sister, Sharon; his sister-in-law, Kathy Townsend; and his great-niece, Logan Welsh.

A Celebration of Phil’s Life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 19, 2024, at the Advancement Building in Readstown. Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Phil will be laid to rest at a later date at the Sylvan Cemetery. Online Condolences may be expressed at www.vossfh.com.
