GAYS MILLS Phyllis Johanna Drake, age 87, died Tuesday May 30, 2017. Phyllis Johanna Drake (Finley), age 87, passed away peacefully surrounded by; family and friends on Tuesday, May 30 at the Vernon Memorial Hospital. She was born on April 24, 1930 to Berneice and Leo Finley. Phyllis married Virgil Drake on June 18, 1949 and lived in the Gays Mills area. They enjoyed working the family farm and spending time with family and friends on the farm and at the Red Apple Inn. Phyllis ran the Red Apple Inn for 50 years. Her apple pie was enjoyed by many. She enjoyed traveling and reading. Phylliss greatest joy was spending time with her family, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She is survived by her children; Theresa (Robert) Ludlow, Chicago, Il., John (Lori), Charlotte, NC, Mike (Mary), Oregon, WI, and Jim (Kelly) Green Bay, WI. Her grandchildren Jenny (Mike) Clarke, Bobby (Lauren) Ludlow, Sarah Ludlow, John Christopher (Terresa) Drake, Danyl Smith, Meghan Drake (Rob Johel), Connor and Karina Drake, Jack, Sam and Will Drake, her great grandchildren Maggie, Caitie, and Emily Clarke, Harper and Tommy Drake and Ainsley Smith, her sister Jean (John) Schick as well as many nieces, nephews and friends. She will be sadly missed by all who she was grateful to build a friendship with. She was preceded in death by; her husband Virgil, her sister and brother-in-laws Rita (Clayton) Knoble and Mary Bernadine (Marcellus) Christopherson as well as her brother Bob. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11am on Saturday, June 3, 2017 at the St. Marys Catholic Church in Gays Mills. Father Eugene Wolf will officiate. Friends may call at the church on Saturday from 10am till the time of Mass at 11. In lieu of plants or flowers, memorials may be given to the Ocooch Mountain Rescue Squad, or to the St. Marys Church in Gays Mills. On-line condolences may be offered at www.vossfh.com
