Quentin D. 'Butch' Kagel died Tuesday, February 9, 2010 Quentin D. Kagel, also known by his friends as "Butch," age 67 of Stoddard, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, February 9th. He was born in La Crosse to Donald and Madalyn (Brunke) Kagel on December 12th, 1942. He graduated from Logan High School in La Crosse in 1960 and afterward served in the United States Navy. In 1964 he married Sandra Juen in Genoa, Wisconsin. They had four children, and then later divorced. He was a plumber by trade and worked for various plumbing companies in the area throughout his career, including Allis Chalmers, John Hengel Plumbing, Every Plumbing and Dennison Plumbing. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with friends. He especially enjoyed taking his loyal companion Fred, his yellow labrador, for daily car rides and an occasional swim in the Mississippi. He is survived by one aunt, Ardis Bauer of Sun City, AZ, two sisters, Rachel (Pete) Martell and Tracy Kagel of La Crosse, two sons, Bob (Tiffany) Kagel of Genoa and Joe (Tina) Kagel of Stoddard, two daughters, Jackie (Troy) Nix of Farson, WY and April (Chand) Wehling of Stoddard and seven grandchildren, Quentin Kagel (and fiance Lindsey Lomas), Sandra Hoffman, Holly Kagel, Cutter King, Jordan Nix, Trysha Nix and Cole Wehling. He was preceded in death by his parents. Friends may call at the Vosseteig-Larson Funeral Home, 320 Main (Hwy 82) in DeSoto on Saturday, February 13, 2010 from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Pastor Grant VanLishout will lead a prayer service at 11:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers or plants, memorials are preferred to the Vernon County Humane Society or the Stoddard Food Pantry. The Vosseteig-Larson Funeral Home of DeSoto is serving the family.
