Randy Judd Johnson, age 66, of Bell Center, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, May 1, 2024. He was born on May 27, 1957, to the late Judd and Betty (Pinkham) Johnson in Richland Center. Randy graduated from North Crawford High School in 1975, where he excelled in football.
On October 27, 1979, he married the love of his life, Kathy Sue Starkey and together they had three children: Amy, Darcy, and Travis. Randy was a jack of all trades having worked many occupations, some of which included working at a cheese factory in Star Valley, building on construction sites for Wick Builders, and ending his career as a truck driver.
Randy was an avid Packer and Badger fan, who watched every single game with the volume loud enough for the neighbors to hear. He loved playing cards, and was known to make a hand out of nothing so many times it was practically cheating. Garage sales were one of his favorite stops as he'd say, “you never know when you might need that.” He was also extremely proud of his vegetable garden he worked on all spring and summer.
Randy’s personality and spirit always livened up a room or party when he arrived. He enjoyed many hours listening to his Rock ‘n Roll records. In fact, the only thing better than listening to those records would be listening to his granddaughter, McKenna, sing in her many concerts and musicals. Holidays were crucial in Randy’s life as he thought it was always important for family to gather and spend time with each other.
Randy’s family and friends will always remember him ending every conversation with “I love you”.
Randy is survived by his children: Amy (Courtney) Johnson, Darcy (Nick) Boland, and Travis; his special granddaughter, McKenna Johnson; siblings: Rick (Linda) Johnson, Robin Collins, and Tim Johnson; sisters-in-law: Patti (Don) Laufenberg, Linda (Deb Hughes) Rabe, Nancy (Marc) Lea, Karla (Mark Rounds) Hines, and Michele (Joe Jones) Stovey; and multiple nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Kathy; his parents Judd and Betty; siblings: Rodney Johnson, Rebecca Kirchhoff, Kevin Johnson, and Carol Johnson; brother-in-law, Jim Collins; his in-laws, Jeanie and Carl Starkey; niece, Lisa Krause; and nephews Josh Laufenberg, and Ryan Rabe.
A Celebration of Randy’s life will be scheduled for a later date.
