Rhodia (Solverson) Berger 91, of Westby died Saturday, August 27, 2011. Rhodia (Solverson) Berger 91, of Westby died Saturday, August 27, 2011 peacefully at Norseland Nursing Home surrounded by her family. She was born March 19, 1920 to Ole and Sophie (Fortney) Solverson. She attended Folsom Grade School and graduated from Viroqua High School. She was baptized and confirmed at Franklin Lutheran Church, rural Viroqua and was a member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church, Westby. On September 19, 1942, she married Alton Oliver Berger in Viroqua, Wisconsin. Rhodia worked hard her entire life on the farm and she also worked as a morning baker and was an excellent cook at Borgens Caf until she retired. Rhodia enjoyed baking for her family. There was never a time that the coffee pot was not on and fresh homemade goodies on the table. People were always welcomed at her house and she loved to visit with them. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary and Church Circle. She loved to travel to the Army reunions and later in life loved to go sightseeing with her family members. Survivors include her husband of 68 years Alton of Westby. Her three sons: Allen (Mary Nelson) of Westby, Wayne (Susan) of Hatfield, and Monte (Lois) of Westby; eleven grandchildren: Lisa Berger (Kevin) Tucker, Dawn (Scott) Konze, Aaron (Carrie) Berger, John (Holly) Berger, Mike (Rebecca) Berger, Katie (Justin) Fleischman, Greg (Crystal) Anderson, Travis (Jennifer) Anderson, Matt (Linda) Berger, Tricia (John) Crowley, and Tom (Theresa) Berger; twenty great grandchildren: Arielle, Liv, Henry, Charles, Leo, Will, Mason, Wesley, Ella, Ryan, Megan, Rachel, Colin, Tessa, Gabe, Jacob, Jessica, Connor, Hunter, Colton. She was preceded in death by her parents: Ole and Sophie; siblings: Thelma, Odella, Peder, Odell, Garfield; daughter and son-in-law, Jean and Loren Anderson, and daughter-in-law Judy (Perkins) Berger. Funeral services will be held on Monday, August 29, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Westby. The Reverend Stephan Minnema and Pastor Norman Rose will officiate with burial in the Our Saviors Cemetery.
