Richard "Dick" K. Walter

Richard “Dick” K. Walter, age 80, of rural La Farge, peacefully joined his parents and other loved ones in Eternal Life on Sunday, October 17, 2021. Dick was a loving and caring husband to Jo Ann (nee Rollins) for 60 years; a devoted Father to Rich (Sue) and Brent Walter; an adored Grandfather to Angela, Nicole, and Matthew; the perfect Great-Grandpa to his two favorite blondes, Emily and Kaely, Aydan and Rylan (the boss), Matty Mae and Trystan; the one and only greatest Great-Great-grandpa to Silas (the runt). He was a great Brother (most of the time) to Beverly Pretsch and Iza Pretsch. Dick was preceded in death by his parents, Ken and Harriett Walter; his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Hank and Maurine Rollins; his grandson, Matthew, and several in-laws. Dick was a dedicated Supervisor at the Henry Vilas Park Zoo in Madison for 32 years. Upon retirement in 1996, he returned to his passion of the farm life and living. Along with his wife, Jo Ann, his son, Rich and daughter-in-law, Sue, they purchased a small farm outside of Valley, WI. His love of animals followed, as you never knew what you would find each time you stopped for a visit. His son, Brent, joined them a few years later to help and assist with things to be done. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him, especially his family. A funeral service for Dick will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 21, 2021, at the La Farge Free Methodist Church. Pastor Mark Phillips will officiate. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 20, at the La Farge Free Methodist Church. Additional visitation will be held Thursday at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will be in Valley Cemetery.
