Richard Dean Hall, 80, of Westby, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 14, 2026. He was born on January 30, 1946, in Viroqua, WI to the late Harold and Jean (Jones) Hall. He graduated from Viroqua High School in 1964. He married Avis (Mason) Marino and they had two children, Brandon Michael Hall and Shannon Richard Hall. They later divorced. Richard later married Sandra (Cade) Hall. He worked as a farmer, then as a welder locally at Nelson Muffler. Richard enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time in the great outdoors. He spent time in the shop woodworking and was very generous with his crafts, often giving them to family and friends. He also very much enjoyed listening to country music. More than anything though, he enjoyed spending time with his family, both young and old.
Survivors include his sons, Brandon (Kristine) Hall of Westby and Shannon (Nichole) Hall of Sparta; grandsons, Sawyer Hall of Cashton, Landon Hall of Westby, Matthew Ostrem, and Benjamin Ostrem; granddaughter, Makena Hall of Cashton; sister, Judy (Larry) Brown; other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Sandra Hall; his brother, Michael Hall; and his sister, Janet Hall.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to the family are preferred.
A Funeral Service for Richard will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 21, 2026, at Vosseteig-Larson Funeral Home in Viroqua. Visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service. A luncheon will follow at the funeral home. Richard will be laid to rest at Liberty Pole Cemetery.
