Rick L. Stellick

Rick L. Stellick, 65 of Viroqua, died Monday, May 5, 2014 Rick L Stellick, 65 of Viroqua, passed away Monday, May 5, 2014 Rick was born to Roland and Dolores (Herring) Stellick in La Crosse on November 24, 1948. Rick was a Navy veteran that served during the Vietnam era. On March 10, 1972, Rick married Nathalie Valero in San Diego, California. They had two loving sons Rick II and Eric. While living in San Diego, Rick was a jack-of-all-trades, working as a plumber and a chef. It was there that he developed a love for the Special Needs population. In the 1980s, Rick moved back to the La Crosse area where he met Kitty. They married on May 12, 1990. Rick was instantly loved by his new children, Chuck and Carrie Ann. Rick was employed at Chileda and the La Crosse School District where he worked with special needs students. He retired from the La Crosse School District in 2005. Rick is survived by his loving wife Kitty, his 4 children Rick II (Adrian) Stellick, Eric Stellick, Chuck Morey, and Carrie Ann Morey (Lee Sherry). He will be forever remembered as "Poppie" by his grandchildren Ryan Stellick, Brett Morey, Hallie Sherry, and Isabella "Izzy" Sherry. He is also survived by a brother, Todd, and sisters Debbie (Mark) Clark, Julie (Dave) Hanus and Terry (Kelly); his aunt Cheryl (Bob) Collins, Uncle Dick Herring, and many nieces and nephews; brother in-law Jeff (Kathy) Benson and his nephew Kyle who loving referred to him as Uncle "Ick"; and long-time friends Clay Jones and Bill Crosthwaite. He was proceeded in death by his parents and his brother Doug (Kim), who he joins in heaven for a little duck hunting (we heard that "Heaven Duck Hunting" is good all year round). The family would like to thank the Bland Bekkedal Center and the Vernon Memorial Hospice Staff for their compassion during their difficult time. In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred. Per Ricks wishes he is being cremated and no funeral services will be held. The Vosseteig Funeral Home of Viroqua is serving the family.
