Robert Bjerkos

Robert Bjerkos, 66, of Westby, died Monday, January 29, 2018. Robert H. Bjerkos, age 66 of Westby, died Monday, January 29, 2018 as the result of pancreatic cancer. He was born on June 18, 1951 to Glen and Elaine (Olson) Bjerkos. He graduated from Westby High School in 1969 and received his bachelors and MBA from University of Wisconsin- LaCrosse. Robert was in the ROTC while at UW-LaCrosse and then became an active Marine and had attained the rank of Captain. He was honorably discharged due to an injury and worked as a management analyst for the Department of Defense at Fort McCoy for close to 30 years. On June 5, 1982 he was united in marriage to Caroline Carson. She preceded him in death on March 25, 2006. Robert was a member of the Westby Coon Prairie Lutheran Church. His favorite hobbies were traveling and his corvettes and his greatest pride was his children and his granddaughter, Gracie. He is survived by his children: Ryan Bjerkos of Westby and Brenda (Jason) Fragosa of Arizona; one granddaughter, Gracie Bjerkos; five siblings: Larry (Debra) Bjerkos, Gail Bjerkos, Betty (Dan) Fagan, Sara (Jay) Nickel and Scott (Shawna Stringham) Bjerkos; brother-in-law, Elder (Diane) Carson, Jr. and sister-in-law, Sandy (Mike) Dolan; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends including Deidra (Sissy Erlandson) Morrison. He was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Caroline. Blessed be our memory of Robert H. Bjerkos. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 3, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at Westby Coon Prairie Lutheran Church. Pastor Daniel Wollman will officiate. Burial with military rites will be in the Coon Prairie Cemetery.
