Robert "Bob" Briggs

Bob Briggs, age 80, of Westby passed away on Monday, February 6, 2023, at Vernon Memorial Hospital. He was born January 18, 1943, to the late Delbert and Eileen (Schilling) Briggs, in Belvidere, Illinois.

On May 9, 1964, Bob married Beverly Owen and together they had two children. Bob worked at Belvidere Company for 42 years until his retirement. The couple moved to Westby in 2009, where they now call their home. Bob really enjoyed boating and fishing, campfires, and just enjoying the great outdoors.

Another great passion of Bob’s was being actively involved with Redemption Chapel since the very beginning and becoming a trustee, where he was involved with the important paperwork and contracts. Bob really enjoyed being around his Redemption Chapel family and was known to claim the lawn mowing as his own little job.

Bob is survived by his children, Tammy Schmidt and Craig (Sheri) Briggs; four granddaughters: Jamie Javenkoski, Nicole (Cornelius) Harvey, Cortney (Kutter) Fernald, and Breanna Schmidt; one grandson, Carter Briggs; five great-grandchildren: Alleah, Hunter, Harlie, Kashton, and Hudson; his special friends, Jeff and Mary Hooverson and their family, Lydia and Ella and Jerry Syring; a special nephew, Bruce (Rhonda) Van Fleet; his sister-in-law, Sheila Briggs; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Beverly, and his brother, Rodney.

A Funeral Service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 9, 2023, at Redemption Chapel, 3607 Duncan Lane, Viroqua. Pastor George Shick will officiate. A visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until time of service. A graveside service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, February 10, 2023, at the Viroqua Cemetery.
