Robert E. Skaaland

Robert E. Skaaland, 80, of Viroqua died Thursday, July 25, 2013. Robert E. Skaaland, Jr., 80, of Viroqua, passed away peacefully at Vernon Memorial Hospital in Viroqua, WI on July 25, 2013 He was born on July 14, 1933, to Robert Sr. and Alida (Role) Skaaland in Chaseburg, WI, one of 5 children. He married the love of his life, Denise Carlson, on September 27, 1952. They started their married life in Janesville while Bob was employed at Fischer Body. They returned to the area in 1953, with Bob working at the Esofea Cheese Factory. He then began his farming career in rual Viroqua area, while also working at the Nelson Feed Mill. His love for farming led Bob & Denise to purchase the farm they currently reside on. Upon retirement from farming, Bob drove school bus for Viroqua Area School for 10 years. He was involved in many community, civic and leadership roles, including Vernon County Board, Jefferson Town Board, ASC Committee, 4-H leader and church council at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, where they have been members for 50 years. Bobs greatest pleasure was spending time with his family and friends, and farming. Bob is survived by his wife, Denise and their 5 children; Steve (Paula), Janesville; Mark (Ann), Westby; Barry, Waunakee; Laurie (Terry) Clark, La Crosse and Pam (Todd) Jambois, Genoa. Thirteen grandchildren; Christopher (Rachel) Skaaland, Michele (Paul) Leverson, Jen Wesolowski and Kim (Dane) Arpianian; Erin (Stuart) Sill, Nick (Cindy) Skildum, Matthew & Lucas Skaaland; Samuel Skaaland; Brandon Clark; Nicole, Greg and Aubrey Jambois; Nine great- grandchildren. One brother, Reuben (Jacque) Skaaland and two sisters, Arlene Davidson and Evanelle Jacobson also survive him. In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by one brother, James Skaaland, a daughter-in-law, Linda (Pieper) Skaaland, two brotherin-laws, Delbert Davidson and Harlan Jacobson. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m on Monday, July 29, 2013 at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 504 South Main Street, Viroqua WI, A visitation will be held from 1-3 pm on Sunday at Vosseteig-Larson Funeral Home at 123 W. Decker St in Viroqua, and also from 10 am until the time of the service on Monday at the church. The family would like to thank Gundersen Clinic healthcare providers and hospice for all the wonderful loving care they gave Bob. In lieu of flowers and plants memorials are preferred. The Vosseteig-Larson Funeral Home of Viroqua is serving the family.
