Robert J. Bolton, 83 of Viroqua, died Thursday, May 12, 2011. Robert John Bolton, age 83 of Viroqua, died Thursday, May 12, 2011 at Vernon Memorial Hospital. He was born February 29, 1928 at rural Elkhorn to Robert Elmo and Helen Pearl (Covy) Bolton. He served in the Merchant Marines, U.S. Navy and U.S. Navy Reserves during WWII and the Korean War. He was a master baker and chef, and retired from teaching at Baton Rouge Vocational Institute. He belonged to various organizations including Moose Club and American Legion. After the death of his wife he married Betty (Hanson) Mullen on September 14, 1985. He is survived by his wife, Betty; his sons: Robert Elmo II (Deb), Roy (Robin), Corky (Sue) Bolton; daughter, Debra (Carl) Seymour, all of Louisiana; adopted daughter, Sue (Ralph) Warren of Arizona; 15 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild. His loving extended family: son, Mark Glen (Lori) Mullen and his children, Melissa and Jake and daughter, Barbara (Gib) Maas and their children, Tadd and Teala; sisters: Florence Mitchell of Red Granite and Dorothy (Jerry) Cervanda of Delavan; along with many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his former wife; parents; grandparents; sister, Nancy and her husband, Joe Badeaux. A visitation will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 17, 2011 at Vosseteig-Larson Funeral Home, 123 W. Decker Street, (Hwy. 56), in Viroqua with a Christian service to be held at 7:00 p.m. Pastor George Shick will officiate. Burial will be on Wednesday, May 18, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, rural Elkhorn, with military honors provided by the United States Navy. Bob's nephew, Pastor Charles Cervenda will officiat at graveside service. In lieu of flowers and plants memorials are preferred and will be donated in Bobs memory. The Vosseteig-Larson Funeral Home of Viroqua is serving the family.
