Robert K. Dunkelberger, age 68 of DeSoto, died Monday, May 28, 2007 Robert "Bob" Keith Dunkelberger, age 68 of DeSoto, passed away Monday, May 28, 2007 at Bethany St. Joseph Care Center in LaCrosse after a lengthy illness. He was born in Correctionville, IA to Lloyd and Marjorie (Courtney) Dunkelberger on December 14, 1938. He graduated from Aurora High School in Aurora, MN. On June 20, 1959 he married Patty Olson. They later divorced. Bob worked as an ironworker and a boilermaker for many years. On April 21, 1984 he married his soul-mate, Barbara "Kaye" (Hill) Gilman at DeSoto Lutheran Church. For the past 15 years he worked at Ace Hardware. He recently retired due to ongoing health issues. Bob is survived by his loving wife, Kaye "his Pooker" of DeSoto; three sons: Rob (Brenda) Dunkelberger and Brian Dunkelberger, both of Fort Worth, TX and Shelly (Chris) Gilman of LaCrosse; three daughters: Denise (Jon) Gronwald of Port Allen, LA; Kim Gilman and Lori (Steve) Lachman, both of LaCrosse and six beloved grandchildren: Kyle and Jennifer Dunkelberger of Fort Worth, TX; Hunter Gronwald of Port Allen, LA; Jayden Gilman, and Johnny and Wyatt Lachman, all of LaCrosse. He is further survived by one sister, Donna (Rudy) Hayes of Correctionville, IA; his mother-in-law, Neoma Hill of DeSoto, as well as cousins, nieces, nephews, and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents. "We love and miss you Papa." Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 1, 2007 at 10:00 a.m. at the DeSoto Lutheran Church with Pastor Libby Howe officiating. Friends may call on Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Vosseteig-Larson Funeral Home in VIROQUA, 123 W. Decker St. (Hwy. 56). (Due to road construction, use the parking lot entrance half block south of Hwy. 56). Friends may also call on Friday after 9:00 a.m. at the DeSoto Lutheran Church.
