Robert S. Baker, 78, of Westby died on Wednesday October 21, 2009. Robert "Bob" Baker, 78, died on Wednesday, October 21, 2009. Robert was born in Chicago on June 5, of 1931 to Steven and Ursala (Fear) Baker. He attended high school in Downers Grove, IL. After high school, he joined the U.S. Air Force and served his country in Korea. On February 8, 1958 Bob was united in marriage to Mary E. "Betty" Cline and together they had 7 children. After marriage, they moved to Wisconsin from Illinois and farmed for a few years. Robert later went back to Illinois and worked as a machinist and set up person for Atlas Tubing until his retirement. He and Mary retired together in Westby where they enjoyed their family, gardening and the company of many friends. Robert was a member of the Westby VFW and American Legion Post 155 and was active in both. Robert will be missed very much. Robert is survived by children: Scott (Regina) Baker of Harwood Hights, IL, Kevin (Elizabeth) Baker of Kenosha, Robin (Robin) Greenland of Westby, David (Dorothy) Baker of Kenosha, Heather (William) DelleChiah, of Lisle, IL, Charles Baker of Westby and Sidonna (Kenneth) Mahaffey of Morris, IL; grandchildren: Nicholas, Andrew, Cassandra, Jonathan, Christopher, Carrie, Shawna, Michael, Danielle, Elizabeth, Abigale, Kaitlyn and Maddie; sister Rosemary (Thermond) Burkhead of IL; in-laws Dyann (Stan) Donmoyer of Greencastle, PA, Fred (Judy) Cline of Lincoln, MO, Mitchell (Karen) Cline of Hudson; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife Mary, Robert is preceded in death by his parents; and mother and father in-law Clarence and Evelyn Cline. Memorial services will be held on Wednesday, October 28, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. at the Vosseteig Funeral Home, 708 S. Hwy 14 in Westby with Pastor Gary Daines officiating. Burial will be in the Felton Cemetery in Bosstown with military rights provided by Syverson-Funk American Legion Post #155 and Westby VFW Post #8021. Friends may call on Wednesday after 12:00 noon at the Vosseteig Funeral Home. The Vosseteig Funeral Home of Westby is serving the family family.
