Robert Wayne Hoyum

Robert Wayne Hoyum, age 74 of Viroqua, died Tuesday May 15, 2018. Robert W. Hoyum, age 74 of Viroqua, passed away Tuesday, May 15, 2018 at Bethel Home. He was born April 18, 1944 in Viroqua to Harold and Jean (Vance) Hoyum. He graduated from Viroqua High School in 1962 where he was active in FFA and enjoyed showing the familys registered Brown Swiss cattle. On August 19, 1972, he was united in marriage to Barbara Egge. They farmed together on Dach Ridge, outside of Viroqua until 1995. Later, Robert became employed by, Northern Automotive in West Salem until he retired in 2016. Robert loved Old Time Polka music and greatly enjoyed following Mels Polka Stars. In addition to his wife Barbara, he is survived by daughter Jennifer (Jammie) Miller of LaFarge; 3 grandsons, Dakota Meffert and twins Jesse and Judd Miller; one sister, Joyce Solverson of Viroqua; one brother, Terry (Terry) Hoyum of Sparta; sister-in-law, Sharon Hoyum of Viroqua; step-mother, Margaret Campbell; uncle, Fred (Carole) Hoyum; two aunts, Janette Vance and Iva Hoyum; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Gary Hoyum; infant sister, Cheryl Hoyum; brother-in-law, Alan Solverson; sister-in-law, Lori Hoyum; aunts and uncles, Edwin Hoyum, Norman and Lillian Hoyum, Gertrude and Carl Oliver, Mabel and LaVerne Oliver, Helen and Arnold Emerson, Evelyn and Noel Nelson, Vernon Vance, Kenneth and Merle Vance, and Virgil Vance. The family would like to express gratitude for the compassionate care to the staff at Hirsch Clinic, Gundersen Hospital and Clinic, LaCrescent Health Services, Bethel Home, and Vernon Memorial Hospice. Funeral Services will be held at 11am on Monday, May 21, 2018 at the Viroqua Church of Christ. Pastor George Shick will officiate with burial to follow in the Viroqua Cemetery. Friends may call on Sunday, May 20, 2018 from 4-6pm at the Vosseteig-Larson Funeral Home, 123 W Decker St (Hwy 56) in Viroqua. Friends may also call at the church on Monday from 10am till the time of service at 11. In lieu of flowers or plants, memorials are preferred in Roberts name.
