Rodney Rasque, 63, of DeSoto passed away Saturday, December 1, 2012 of heart and kidney failure at Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center surrounded by his loving family. Rodney was born in Richland Center, WI on November 5, 1949 to James and Marjorie (Beran) Rasque. He lived in Muscoda, WI until 1959 when his family moved to Ferryville, WI. He graduated from De Soto High School in 1968. After graduation, he was employed by Badger Army Ammunition and lived in Sauk City, WI. While there, he met Patricia Breunig and they were married on May 22, 1971 at St. Aloysius Catholic Church. Rodney was employed by Northern Engraving from 1970 to 2008. He was also employed by Aramark Services at Viterbo University until 2011. Rodney and Patti lived in Ferryville from 1971 - 1979. They moved to De Soto where they currently live. Rodney was a member of the De Soto Fire Department and First Responders for 32 years. He was a charter member and past president of the De Soto Area Lions. He enjoyed watching the Packers, Brewers, and NASCAR. He is survived by his wife, Patti of 41 years; sons: James (Krista) and their children, Brandon, Cade, Ethan, and Isaac of Dodge, WI, Mitchell (Melissa Nakama) of Milwaukee, WI, and daughter, Mary (Jeff) Bye and their daughter, Lillianna of La Crosse, WI. In addition he is survived by his brother, Terry (Bernell) of De Soto; sisters: Joan Ver Duin of Victory, and Diane (Duane) Froh of Genoa; his mother-in-law, Mary Breunig of Sauk City; brothers-in-law: Dennis (Joan) Breunig of Prairie du Sac, Roger (Carla) Breunig of Menomonee Falls, Steven (Dorothy) Breunig of Sauk City; and sister-in-law, Debra (David) Lundgren of Prairie du Sac; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Marjorie; and infant sister, Mary Constance; his brother-in-law, Jack Ver Duin; and his father-in-law, Wilfred Breunig. "Until we meet again may God hold you in the palm of his hands." A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, December 7, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Charles Catholic Church in Genoa, Wis. Father William Dhien will officiate with burial in St. Charles Cemetery. Friends may call from 4-7 p.m. on Thursday with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. at the Vosseteig Funeral Home, 320 Main Street in DeSoto and also at the church on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at 11:00 a.m. The Vosseteig Funeral Home of DeSoto is serving the family.
