Rodney Luckasson

Rodney D. Luckasson, age 70, of Ferryville passed away on Thursday, December 21, 2023. He was born on January 24, 1953, in Cashton to the late Lyder and Evelyn (Olson) Luckasson. Rodney enlisted in the Coast Guard on February 28, 1972, in Niles, Illinois. During his service, Rodney was appointed as Presidential Security Detail through the U.S. Coast Guard from January 21, 1971, to January 20, 1973. He was honorably discharged on December 16, 1975.

While he was in the military, Rodney worked in the transportation division and after separation continued as a truck driver for a logging company. Rodney married Sharon Dutra in Oregon on August 27, 1990, and after her passing in 1999, he moved back to Wisconsin shortly after.

Rodney loved cannons and even had his own that he enjoyed traveling to show them off. He enjoyed driving tractors and had an extensive gun collection which he used during deer season.

Rodney is survived by his cousin, Tim (Franci) Kolve; extremely close friend, Olaf Leirmo; brother, Terry Luckasson of Cashton; stepbrother, Darrell (Karen) Luckasson of Waunakee; nieces, Ann Anderson and Kaylani Whitt; nephews, Eric and Tyler Luckasson; cousins: Anna Duresky, Delores Gunther, Sharyl Olson, Dean Loveng, and Denise Kolve; and many extended family members.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Sharon Luckasson; his sister, Charlene Luckasson Wilde; and cousins: Wilfred, Charles, and Ronald Loveng.

A funeral service will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 23, 2024, at Immanuel Lutheran Church (Moen Church) on County Road PC, rural Cashton. A visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service. Rodney will be laid to rest at the church cemetery with full military honors.
