Roger A. Russell

Roger Russell, age 70, of Verona, Wisconsin passed away on April 27, 2023. He was born on March 20, 1953, to the late Joseph and Francis (Kinder) Russell. Roger was known for his intelligence, resourcefulness, and dedication to his work and hobbies.

Roger spent his career as a laborer for the State of Wisconsin, where he was highly regarded for his strong work ethic and commitment to his job. He took great pride in his work, which contributed to the betterment of his community and state. His colleagues and friends will remember him as a reliable and hardworking individual who was always willing to lend a helping hand.

In his free time, Roger was an avid reader, with a particular fondness for car and hunting magazines. His love of reading extended to action dramas on television, where he could often be found engrossed in the latest episode of his favorite show. Roger enjoyed squirrel hunting and cherished the time spent in nature. His love for the outdoors was evident in the care he took to preserve the environment and the respect he showed for the animals he hunted.

Roger was a true jack of all trades, always eager to learn new skills and take on new challenges. He was known for his ability to try to fix just about anything. Roger’s intelligence and handy nature were evident in every aspect of his life, from his work to his hobbies and interests. He was a man who was always eager to learn and grow, and his curiosity and passion for life were infectious. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

Roger is survived by his sister, Sheila Mae (John) Schwartz; his nephew, Jesse Crawford; his niece, Francis Kueffer; many great nieces and nephews; his lifelong friend, Doug Haglan; and many other extended family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Allen Russell; five other siblings lost in infancy; and his niece, Allison Crawford.

A funeral service will be held at 12:00 p.m. (noon) on Monday, May 8 2023, at Dell United Methodist Church. Pastor Jorge Ochoa will officiate. A visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service. Roger will be laid to rest at the Dell Cemetery with a lunch at the church to follow.
