Roger Allen Quamme, age 83, of Viroqua/Soldiers Grove, WI, and currently a resident of Lakeview Health Center in West Salem, WI, went to be with his heavenly father on Sunday, August 13, 2023. He was born in Yankeetown, WI (rural Soldiers Grove) on June 3, 1940, the son of Clarence and Ruth Quamme.
Born and raised on the home farm, Roger proudly worked hard there for years. He moved away for a time and started a family of his own, however he moved back to the family farm to take it over in 1980. He was employed at a few different places over the years, the last being Nu Pak in Boscobel. He worked there for 8+ years after retiring from farming, but his heart was always on the farm. He worked hard for what he had and always instilled a work ethic into his children. He enjoyed listening to music, especially Johnny Cash, and spending time outside with family.
Roger will be deeply missed on this earth, and we know he will fly high.
Roger is survived by his wife, Margaret; three children, Kristy Thompson (James), Tim Quamme (Kim), and Andy Quamme (Laura); sisters, Shirley Nickel and Colleen Fjelstad (Greg); 9 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, cousins; and numerous friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Ruth; his grandparents; and two grandchildren, Noah Andrew Quamme and Olivia Jane Quamme.
A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 18, 2023, at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Soldiers Grove. Pastor Carrie Anderson will officiate. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Roger will be laid to rest at Forest Hill Cemetery in Soldiers Grove. Online Condolences may be expressed at www.vossfh.com.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Lakeview Health Center, especially those on the Ravenwood wing.
