Roger C. Dixon, age 69 of Ferryville, died Saturday, March 14, 2009 Roger C. Dixon, age 69 of Ferryville, died Saturday, March 14, 2009 at the Thornton Manor in Lansing, Iowa where he had been a resident since February 23, 2009. Roger was born on July 15, 1939 in Chicago, Ill to Charles and Harriet (Yactor) Dixon. He served in the U.S. Navy. Roger was an electrician in the Chicago area for many years and was a member of IBEW Local Union 134. His first marriage was to Frances Plantago and together they had three sons: Steve (Sue) Dixon, Richard Dixon, and Charles Dixon. Roger married Ann Wise in1978 and they had one son, Roger Thomas "Tommy" Dixon. They moved to Ferryville about 30 years ago and Roger owned and operated Lansing Auto Sales in Lansing, Iowa. He is further survived by two grandchildren, Richard Dixon and Mason Dixon; two nieces, Deb and Sue; one nephew, Jim; three great nephews and two great nieces; and his pride and joy dog, "Tank". In addition to his parents, Roger was preceded in death by one brother, Dale Dixon; and his wife, Ann who died on October 5, 2004. Graveside services will be held on Saturday, March 21, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. at the St. James Catholic Cemetery, Rising Sun. Friends may call on Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Vosseteig-Larson Funeral Home, 320 Main Street (Hwy 82) in DeSoto. In lieu of flowers or plants, memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society. The Vosseteig-Larson Funeral Home of DeSoto is serving the family.
