Roger D. DeGarmo, 74, of Readstown, died Sunday, July 28, 2013 Roger D. DeGarmo, 74, of Readstown, passed away on July 28, 2013 at the Richland Center Hospital. He was born on June 6, 1939 to Gordon and Geraldine (Henry) DeGarmo. Roger graduated from Viola High School in 1957. He was united in marriage to Donna Heal on June 6, 1959. From this marriage there are three children, Allison (Jim) Showen of Gays Mills, twins Brian DeGarmo of Muscoda and Barry(Song) DeGarmo of Graham, WA. Early on Roger was employed by General Motors in Janesville. Upon returning to Viola he owned and operated the Mobil Station with Dick Johannesen. Later he worked for the Richland County Highway Department, and went on to work and retire from The Kraemer Company in Plain, WI. He was a member of the Operating Engineers Union #139. When he was in better health he enjoyed deer hunting, fishing and mushrooming. His favorite pastime has been playing cards at Liberty. Roger was preceded in death by his parents, Gordon and Geraldine DeGarmo and three sisters, Beverly Sherman, Helen Marie Drake Roessler and Betty Kerska. He is survived by his daughter Allison(Jim) Showen, sons Brian DeGarmo and Barry (Song) DeGarmo. Grandsons, Lucas (Katie) Showen, Wendell Showen and Chase DeGarmo, two great grand-daughters Haddie and Libbie Showen, a sister, Aleta Hagstrom, a brother-in-law, Walter Kerska, Ex-wife and friend Donna DeGarmo and friend Mary Alderman, Other family members and many good friends. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, August 3, 2013 at the Viola United Methodist Church. Pastor Wayne Hull will officiate with burial to follow in Brush Hollow Cemetery. Friends may call at the church on Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at 11. The Vosseteig Funeral Home of Gays Mills and Viola are serving the family.
