Roger Springborn age 71 of Red Mound and DeSoto died Tuesday September 10, 2019. Roger was born in Viroqua, WI on January 15, 1948 to Herman and Esther (Warren) Springborn. Roger was a family man, first and formost. He married Valerie Jean Johnson on March 19, 1983 in Springville. He was a father to seven wonderful children, to whom he showed his generosity, his compassion, his helping hand, his guidance and love. His door was always open to anyone in need of help or a kind word, and he was a great listener. He shared his love of music, mostly country and western. Roger played in several bands through the years, also playing singles with his one-man band. He played the steel and electric guitars but was most renowned for his smooth toned vocals. Together Roger and Valerie loved to travel, anxious to see new sights and places. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. He liked Honda and Kawasaki motorcycles. He loved his tools, which came in handy passing on his skills as a mechanic over many, many years to his sons. He was proud to be a Soldier. He spent years in excavating, first with Springborn Excavating and later with Thurin Excavation. He also farmed for himself through the years, and also a number of area farms as a hand in the Sidie Hollow area and Retreat areas most notably for the Parr Farms. He was a Jack of all trades, not just your average Renaissance man. Roger will be missed dearly. God bless our memories of Roger. He is survived his wife, Valerie; his children, Roger Jr. (Wendy), Nick, Bobbi Lynn Lindsey, Amanda (Doug) Hickok, Cole, Patti (Dan) Hougom and Gerrilynne "Gigi" Kunert. He is also survived by his fourteen grandchildren; a great-grandson; and seven brothers and sisters, Margaret (d.Donald) Geddes, Joyce (Harry) Sutton, Marvin (Alice) Springborn, Eloda (Miles) Bohland, Harlan, Loren (Marlene), and Allen (d.
