Ronald Charles Becwar, 74, of Gays Mills, passed away peacefully on June 7, 2025, surrounded by family in the comfort of the home he built.
Born into a bustling family of nine children and raised on a farm, Ron learned the values of hard work and perseverance balanced with fun and adventure from an early age. These values shaped the man who would become a pillar of strength for all who knew him.
He was a 1970 graduate of North Crawford High School and dedicated nearly 40 years to his career as a skilled carpenter. He built more than just buildings and bridges—he created a legacy rooted in integrity, craftsmanship, and pride in a job well done.
He shared 52 wonderful years of marriage with his devoted wife, Beverly (Friederick), and together they raised four daughters who meant the world to him. He found his greatest joy in being a husband, a father, and a doting grandpa to his four grandchildren. He loved and respected his sons-in-law, grateful for the care they showed his daughters and grandchildren. Family was everything to Ron. He shared a remarkably close bond with his siblings and was not only a great brother but also a trusted friend. His warmth, loyalty, and sense of humor made him deeply loved by everyone around him.
Ron was a man of many passions. He found joy walleye fishing in secluded Canadian lakes, happiness hunting in the woods, and freedom on the open road riding his Harleys. He enjoyed his antique John Deere tractors and took pride in competing in local tractor pulls. He made lasting memories camping with family and traveling the country, always eager for the next adventure.
Ron was a man of deep faith and was honored to serve as godfather to seven family members. He led by example—offering guidance, love, and unwavering support to all who were fortunate to know him. His strength was quiet but powerful, his presence comforting, and his character unshakable.
He was the kind of man who showed up, stood tall, and loved fiercely. His legacy will live on in the lives he touched, the lessons he taught, and the love he gave so freely.
He is survived by his loving wife, Beverly; his four daughters Amy (Rod), Molly, Krista (Davide), Megan (Peter); his grandchildren, Celia, Chloe, Nico and Zakir; his brothers and sisters, Larry, Jerry (Lee), Barbara, David (Barb), Phil (Judy), Laurie (John), Mike, Tamara (Tim); his brothers and sisters-in-law, Diane, Ron (Sandy), Cindy (Bob), Sue, Marvin (Rita), John (Julie), Joan, Madonna (Dave), Bryan (Jen), Karen (Bill), Loran (Carrie); and a large extended family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence and Jeanette (Caya) Becwar; his parents-in-law, Ralph and Florence (Kress) Friederick; and his brothers-in-law and sister-in-law, Leroy, Mary, Roger and Dennis.
