Rosalyn J. Vig

Rosalyn J. Vig, age 82 of Viroqua, wife of the former Dr. Edward Vig, died early Sunday, June 18, 2006 at the Vernon Memorial Hospital in Viroqua. She was born July 10, 1923 in Loganville, WI to August and Ella (Williams) Steinhorst. In 1939 she graduated from Reedsburg High School and went on to graduate from Madison General Hospitals Nursing Program. She earned her graduate degree in nursing from Marquette University in Milwaukee. She worked at Badger Ordinance during WWII. She also worked at the Reedsburg Hospital and Madison General Hospital where she was the Director of Nursing. It was there she met Eddie and the two were married in Viroqua on January 14, 1954. After raising her family, she partnered with her husband as his nurse for many years at the Vig-Gundersen Clinic in Viroqua. She was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Viroqua. Rosalyn is survived by her three children: John (Pamela) Vig, and Eric Vig of Viroqua, and James (Laura) Vig of Cross Plains; five grandchildren: Mark, Gillian, Kayla, Andrew, and Carly; two brothers: Gerald (Marie) Steinhorst and Roger (Sue) Steinhorst of Reedsburg; and two brothers-in-law: David (Betty) Vig and DeVerne Vig of Viroqua; and many fond nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Edward Nels Vig on December 20, 2003. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 22, 2006 at the Vosseteig-Larson Funeral Home in Viroqua. Pastor Kathryn Ingbritsen will officiate with burial in the Viroqua Cemetery. Friends may call after 10:00 a.m. on Thursday at the Vosseteig-Larson Funeral Home, 123 West Decker (Hwy 56), Viroqua. The family thanks the staff at Vernon Memorial Hospital and Maplewood Terrace for their thoughtful and compassionate care of Rosalyn during the past several years of her life. The family suggests memorials to a charity of the donors choice. The Vosseteig-Larson Funeral Home of Viroqua is serving the family.
