Rose Marie Simonson, 87, of Viroqua died Thursday morning, December 26, 2013 at the home of her daughter. She was born in the Town of Viroqua on November 15, 1926 to Melvin and Thelma (Sordahl) Hoff. Rosie was baptized at Zion Lutheran Church and confirmed at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Viroqua, where she was a member of the Naomi circle. On March 10, 1948 she married Kenneth Simonson in Viroqua and they spent their entire life together farming in rural Viroqua. Rosie belonged to the Two Ridges Homemakers and the Over 50 Senior Citizens Club in Viroqua. She was blessed with many friends that meant the world to her. Rosie has always loved spending time with her family. She is survived by her four children: Michael of Viroqua, Roger (Lisa) of Mt. Calvary, WI, Barbara (John) Huschka and Kathleen (Gary) Volden both of Viroqua; 14 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter; one sister-in-law, LaVonne Stendahl of Chaseburg; several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth in 1996; her parents; and grandson, Todd in 1997. Blessed be our memory of Rose Marie Simonson. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, December 30, 2013 at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Viroqua. The Rev. Lindsay Paul Jordan will officiate with burial to follow in the Viroqua Cemetery. Friends may call on Sunday from 1:00 - 3:00 p.m. at the Vosseteig-Larson Funeral Home, 123 W. Decker, (Hwy 56) in Viroqua. Friends may also call at the church on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers and plants memorial may be given to Good Shepherd Lutheran Church Food Pantry or Gundersen Health Systems Hospice. The Vosseteig-Larson Funeral Home of Viroqua is serving the family.
