Ruth Elaine Mcclurg

Ruth Elaine McClurg (Forde) age 90 of Viroqua, WI passed away peacefully at home on January 4, 2024, surrounded by her family.

She is survived by husband, Robert; sons, Ron (Connie), Maurice (Greta), Steve (Lisa), and Duane (Susan); twelve grandchildren, Molly (Eric) Schuler, Katie McClurg, Michael McClurg, Quinn McClurg, Brady McClurg, Nicholas McClurg, Mason McClurg, Carson Emmert, Keaton Emmert, Dustin Lewis, Megan McClurg, and Matthew McClurg; great-granddaughter Lexi Schuler; sisters, Genevieve Birkelo and Carolyn White; sister-in-law, Beverly Forde; and many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her infant son, Mark McClurg, and her brothers, Arlin and Elwood Forde.

Ruth was born in Crawford County to Julius and Nora Forde on January 3, 1934. She was a graduate of Viroqua High School, attended Luther College, and received her Nursing Diploma from the Nursing Program at Madison General Hospital. She began as a nurse at Vernon Memorial Hospital, and then worked as the Viroqua School Nurse for almost 25 years until her retirement. After her retirement, she worked at the Family and Children's Center in Viroqua, and volunteered. She has been active in the church and played piano and organ for the church all of her adult life.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Children's Miracle Network or a charity of your choice.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 9, 2024, at Viroqua Church of Christ. A visitation will be held from 12:30 p.m. until the time of service. Ruth will be laid to rest at the Viroqua Cemetery.
