Ruth Evelyn Newcomb

VIROQUA Ruth Evelyn Newcomb, age 94, passed away Saturday October 14, 2017 at Vernon Manor in Viroqua. Ruth was born Aug. 30, 1923 to Hazel (Wells) and Edgar McCray in Sparta WI, where she grew up on the family farm. In 1939, Ruth married Burl McKittrick and in 1942 their son Larry was born. Ruth and Burl later divorced. Burl died in 1965. Ruth then married Thomas Newcomb in 1960. They happily lived their life together in Beloit, WI where Ruth worked hard in a factory until her retirement in 1986. Tom passed away in June of 1987. Viroqua became her home in August of 1987, living nearer to Larry and his family. Ruth is survived by; her son, Larry McKittrick, two granddaughters; Vicky (Ron) Mitton and Brenda (Don) Haugrud, two grandsons Tom McKittrick and Lawrence (Valerie Heim) McKittrick, seven great-grandchildren and five great-great- grandchildren and two nieces. She was proceeded in death by her parents, her first husband Burl, second husband Tom, her daughter in law Nancy McKittrick, her sisters Ester, Ellen(Nellie) and Elizabeth and several nieces and nephews. A Graveside Funeral Service for Ruth will be held at the Viroqua Cemetery on Monday October 23, 2017 at 11:00 A.M. The family is extending an open invitation to all friends and relatives to attend the service that morning. In lieu of flowers or plants memorials are preferred.
