Ruth Lucille (Weber) Erickson , 85, of Viroqua, died Friday, March 23, 2012 Ruth Lucille (Weber) Erickson, age 85, of rural Viroqua passed away Friday, March 23, 2012 at the Vernon Memorial Hospital in Viroqua, Wisconsin. Ruth was born on September 8, 1926 in the town of Franklin, Vernon County, to Nicholas and Bernice (Zitzner) Weber. She was baptized at the Viroqua Church of Christ on July 26, 1941. Ruth attended Dach Ridge School. On September 24, 1948, Ruth married Douglas Nicholas Erickson at the Viroqua Church of Christ with Pastor Roy Williams officiating. Ruth and Douglas farmed from 1948 to 1954 on Dach Ridge. In March of 1954, they moved to her present home in Sag City. The two of them farmed there for 43 years. Ruth loved her life as a farm wife working beside Douglas for over 47 years. She enjoyed caring for the many farm animals, working in her flower garden and playing the piano. Ruth is survived by her two children: Paul D. (Judy Cade) Erickson of Viroqua, WI and Kathy L. (Kie M.) Janzen of Lakeville, MN; six grandchildren: Kimberly (Chad) Eick of Soldiers Grove, WI, Courtney Erickson (Fianc Matt Zarnoth) of Stoughton, WI, Chad Erickson, Cobb, WI and Douglas Erickson of Viroqua, WI, Erik Janzen of Lakeville, MN and Brett Janzen of Burnsville, MN; 2 great- grandchildren: Leo Zarnoth and Natalie Zarnoth of Stoughton, WI; one sister: Kathryn Hauge of Viroqua, WI; one sister-in-law: Effie Allen of LaFarge, WI; plus many other relatives and friends. Ruth was preceded in death by her husband; Douglas Erickson on July 9, 1997; her parents, Nicholas and Bernice Zitzner; three sisters: Edith St. John, Helen Weber and Fern Thompson; two brothers: Elwyn and Clayton Weber; two sisters-in-law: Ruth (Ed) Erickson and Harriet Weber; 5 brothers-in-law: Chester Hauge, Ed Erickson, Kenneth Thompson, Max St. John and Glen Allen. Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, March 29, 2012, at Church of Christ, Viroqua, WI. Pastor Jeff Coon will officiate with burial in Liberty Pole Cemetery. Friends may call at the church on Thursday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at 11. In lieu of flowers or plants, memorial contributions may be made to Vernon Memorial Hospice, Vernon Memorial Hospital, or a charity of donors choice. The Vosseteig-Larson Funeral Home is serving the family.
