Ruth M.Hermann

Ruth Minnie Hermann, age 84 of Viroqua and formerly of Viola and Friesland, WI, passed away Saturday evening, March 31, 2007 at the Vernon Memorial Hospital in Viroqua. She had been a resident of Vernon Manor in Viroqua since March of 2006. Ruth was born on April 4, 1922 near Friesland, WI in the town of Scott, Columbia County, to Clara (Fenske) and Albert G. Hermann. Ruth was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Friesland, and attended Ross School. After Ruths father passed away in 1943 and her mother in 1968, Ruth and her brother continued to farm the family farm until 1988 when her brother, Albert passed away. Ruth stayed on the farm, renting the land, until 1990. In August of 1990, she moved to Viola to be near her niece Susan and family, so they could help her. She enjoyed embroidery, watching television (she had her favorite programs!), visiting about her life on the farm, going for rides, and after moving to the nursing home, she enjoyed playing bingo with the other residents. Ruth was very fond of her two great-great nephews, Carter and Connor, whom she called "the boys". Ruth worked for many summers at the canning factory at Cambria, and was a member of Grace Ev. Lutheran Church until 1990 when she joined Immanuel Lutheran Church in Viroqua. She has been a Christian all her life. Ruth was a very faithful and hard worker. She developed arthritis at an early age, but she kept going! She was not only a special aunt to her niece Susan, but also a "mom" because Susans mother (Ruths sister Anita) passed away when Susan was 2 years old. Leaving to mourn her loss is her niece, Susan (Roland) Williams; her great-nephew, Chad Williams (Kristi Hooker); and two great-great-nephews: Carter and Connor, all of Viroqua; cousins, friends, and neighbors. She was preceded in death by her father in 1943; her mother in 1968; a sister, Anita Hermann in 1950; a great-niece, Anita Sue Williams in 1977; a brother, Albert Hermann in 1988; and several aunts and uncles. Her so-journey here was 84 years, 11 months, and 27 days. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 4, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. at the Randolph Township Hall in Friesland, WI. Pastor Kathryn Ingbritsen will officiate with burial in the Friesland Cemetery. Friends may call on Tuesday afternoon from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Vosseteig-Larson Funeral Home, 123 W. Decker (Hwy 56) in Viroqua, and on Wednesday at the Randolph Township Hall from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service at 2:00 p.m. The Vosseteig-Larson Funeral Home of Viroqua is serving the family.
