Ruth Nestingen

Ruth Nestingen, age 88 of Westby, died Tuesday December 24, 2019. Ruth Nestingen, 88, of Westby, passed away December 24, 2019, at the Bland Bekkadahl Center of Hospice in Viroqua, WI. She was born April 14, 1931, in Blue Earth, MN to David and Letha (Yarnell) Perrine. Following High School, Ruth furthered her education at the St. Paul School for Nursing, where she received her degree as a Registered Nurse. Following this she was introduced to her future husband, Dale, on a blind date. They were united in marriage on June 21, 1952. Dale and Ruth made there home in Westby where Dale was employed as an Ag teacher. Ruth put her skills to use becoming the School Nurse for the Cashton School District. She spent 26 years taking care of students, retiring from her position in 1990. After this she and Dale love to spend time with there children and grandchildren along with trips to Texas to escape the cold winters. She is survived by her childen: David (Carol) Nestingen, of Whitefish Bay, WI; Joy (Steve) First of Madison, WI; Kathryn (Kevin) Hardie of Blair, WI; Sarah Nestingen of Westby, WI; Philip (Lynn) Nestingen of Golden CO and Carl (Regina) Nestingen of Johnston, IA; 16 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren: Sarah (Michael) Sifuentes and their 3 children, Kyle, Ethan and William; Peter (Brienne) Nestingen and their daughter Elsie; Christopher First; Andrew First; Elizabeth First,; Benjamin First; Jennifer First; Matthew (Jenni) Hardie and their daughter Harper; Nicholas (Danielle Chu) Hardie; Rachael (Josh) Ranney and their children Bailey and Camryn; Erik Nestingen; Kahri (John Kuntz) Nestingen; Rebekah Nestingen; Annmarie(Logan) Laughery; Amy Nestingen and fiance Robert Jones and Luke Nestingen; one brother, Glenn (Sharon) Perrine of Blue Earth MN; one sister Polly Laughlin of Eagan, MN. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dale; one brother, Robert and one brother-in-law, Glenn Laughlin. Funeral services will be held Saturday December 28, 2019, at 10:00 a.m. at the Westby Coon Prairie Lutheran Church, 500 S. Main St., in Westby, WI. Pastor Deb Jarvis will officiate. Burial will follow in the Coon Prairie Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited for visitation at the Vosseteig Funeral Home in Westby, Friday December 27, 2019 from 4 to 7 p.m. and again at the church on Saturday from 9 a.m. until the time of service.
