Sharon Alice (Schwartz) Weiher, age 80, of Readstown and formerly of La Crosse passed away on Sunday, January 21, 2024, at Vernon Manor. She was born on August 23, 1943, to the late Lambert and Alice (Quackenbush) Schwartz in La Crosse. Sharon attended the former Saint Thomas More High School in La Crosse.
In her early years, Sharon moved out west where she raised and trained horses, her favorite named Kickapoo.
When Sharon moved back to Wisconsin, she returned to the La Crosse area where she worked as a librarian at the school she attended and for Pinkerton as security detail. Later in life, her love of animals transitioned to raising and training dogs. Sharon enjoyed being involved in local events such as attending rodeos and entering her handmade crafts into the Vernon County Fair.
Sharon is survived by her children: Jessie (George) Cook, Gary Fisher, Paul (Rebecca) Piepenhagen, Josh (Karen) Piepenhagen, Albert (Jodi) Shrum, and Michael (Mariano) Kumley; several grandchildren; and her dog Buster.
She was preceded in death by her parents; aunt Freda Blumer; uncle Earl Quackenbush; and grandson Wayne Rieb.
A graveside service will be held at a later date at Woodlawn Cemetery in La Crosse.
Vosseteig-Larson Funeral Home in Viroqua is serving Sharon’s family.
