Sharon R. Ames, 68, of De Soto died Saturday, June 9, 2012. Sharon R. Ames, 68, of De Soto passed peacefully Saturday, June 9, 2012 at her home with her loving family at her side, After a 4 year battle with cancer. Sharon was born on October 8, 1943, at home in the town of Bergen to Ray and Doris (Dennison) Juen. She attended school at Riverside & DeSoto High School. Sharon's true passion was spending time with her Grandchildren, Attending their sporting events, graduations, birthdays, as well as celebrating their achievements. This was a highlight for many of her days. Sharon became the first woman supervisor at Trane Company, where she worked for over 29 years. In her spare time she loved to golf and fish. She also enjoyed cooking, baking and canning what she raised in her garden. She loved to travel, especially to Alaska and spent many winters in Florida. Sharon cared for the community flowers in De Soto and served on the Village Election Board, Library Board, Zoning Committee, volunteered with the VFW Auxiliary and was a member of the Red Hat Club. Sharon is survived by her loving friend of many years David Wintz; children Larry (Tracy) Ames, Kimberly (Tim) Bohnenkamp, and Deanna Puleo; grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sisters Sandra Juen, Susan (Gary) Oldenburg, Marjorie Lemke; her mother Doris Larson; many nieces, nephews, great-niece and nephews; and special friends. She was preceded in death by her husband Donald; sister Nancy Juen; Father Ray Juen; step-father Lyle Larson; grandparents Shelly and Ellen Dennison; and brother-in-law Kenny Lemke. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 13, 2012 at St. Charles Catholic Church in Genoa. Father Robert Cook will celebrate the Mass. Friends may call on Tuesday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Vosseteig-Larson Funeral Home, 320 Main St, in De Soto. Friends may also call at the church on Wednesday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at 11. In lieu of flowers and plants, memorials are preferred. The family would like to thank Dr. Kwong and Gundersen-Lutheran Hospice for the kindness and caring they showed Sharon and her family. The Vosseteig-Larson Funeral Home of De Soto is serving the family.
