Shirley Hanson, 78, of Viroqua, died Tuesday, January 9, 2018. Shirley A. Hanson, age 78 of Viroqua, died Tuesday, January 9, 2018 at Gundersen Lutheran in LaCrosse. She was born on August 10, 1939 to Milford and Kathleen (Murphy) Buros. Shirley attended Smith School and graduated from Westby High School in 1957. On July 26, 1958 she was united in marriage to David Hanson. They lived in Janesville until 1961 when they began farming in the Viroqua area. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and the W-ELCA. She enjoyed playing cards with the neighborhood ladies. Shirley loved her family and continued actively helping on the family farm. She is survived by four children: Duane (Valerie) Hanson of Viroqua, Linda (Greg Turner) McCollum of Omaha, NE, Sharon (Roy) Anderson of Viroqua and Brenda (Doug) Olson of Westby; eight grandchildren: Chad (Sadie Jaworski) Anderson, Cassey (Jeff) Stagg, Jenny (Shane) Peterson, Nicole (Ben) Johnson; Ashley Olson, Haley Olson, Katie Hanson and Carrie Hanson; 10 great-grandchildren: Brayden, Kolten, Addisen, Gavin, Grace, Henrik, Andrew, Leah, Noah, and Sam; sisters: Carol Moore and Donna Hanson; sister-in-law, Marlene Buros; her cat, Callie; other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, David on May 22, 2007; brother Robert Buros and brothers-in-law, Carl Hanson and Allen Moore. Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 15, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. at Zion Lutheran Church with Pastor Pete Beckstrand officiating. Friends and family may call on Sunday from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Vosseteig-Larson Funeral Home, 123 West Decker Street in Viroqua.
