Shirley Lepley

Shirley Lepley, age 79, formerly of Prescott, Wisconsin died December 12, 2006 in Naperville, Illinois, where she had been a resident since December 2004. Shirley DeEtta Sanford was born in LaCrosse, WI on September 23, 1927 to Beulah (Davidson) and Orville Sanford. She graduated from LaFarge High School in WI and the University of Wisconsin-LaCrosse. On June 17, 1951, she was united in marriage to Bernal Lee Lepley. They were both educators teaching in Bruce, WI, and then moving to Prescott, WI, where Bernal became Superintendent of Schools and Mrs. Lepley taught English. She taught 34 years and was dedicated to the educational well-being of young people. The Lepleys lived in Prescott, WI for 31 years. Upon retirement in 1988, they spent the winter months in Florida. In 1994 they moved to Florida as permanent residents. Mr. Lepley passed away on June 5, 1995. Mrs. Lepley resided in Florida until December 2004, and then in Naperville, IL until her death. Mrs. Lepley was a member of the Congregational United Church of Christ in Bradenton, FL where she served as Deaconess for three years, and the Eastern Star - St. Elmo chapter in Prescott, WI. She was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. And Mrs. Orville Sanford, and her beloved husband Bernal. Surviving Mrs. Lepley are her daughter Lisa of Naperville, IL; her son Steve of Minneapolis, MN; her sister Mrs. Judy (Jim) Lyman of Sarasota, FL; a niece, Michelle of Tampa, FL; and a nephew Bob Rosa, of Prairie Du Sac, WI. Funeral Services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 16, 2006 at the United Methodist Church in Viola, Wisconsin. Pastor Doris Clark will officiate with burial in the Viola Cemetery. Friends may call at the church on Saturday from 2:00 p.m. until the time of service at 3:00 p.m. The Vosseteig Funeral Homes Henthorn Memorial Center in Viola is serving the family.
