Shirley Loper

Shirley Loper, age 66 of Viroqua, died Monday June17, 2019. Shirley Pauline Loper, age 66, of Viroqua, passed away peacefully in her home Monday, June 17, 2019. She was born July 4, 1952 in Dubuque, Iowa to the late John and Shirley (Meyer) Hyde. She attended Jefferson Junior High School in Dubuque, Iowa. Shirley met Glen Loper shortly after finishing school. She married him on January 2, 1971 and they were married for 48 years. Shirley and Glen moved a lot due to Glen serving in the U.S. Army. Shirley helped raise four children and also worked at various jobs in the area. She enjoyed crocheting, crossword puzzles, flowers, volleyball, camping, the outdoors, holiday cooking, and spending time with her family and friends. Shirley is survived by her husband of 48 years Glen Loper; four children: Christine (fianc Shawn McNamara) Loper, Christoper (Corena) Loper, Chad (Rose) Loper and Wayne (fiance Stephanie Steffen) Loper; Grandchildren: Austin, Caresse, Nicholas, Chad Jr., Jordan, Riley, Haley, Alexis, Garrett, Mack; nine step-grandchildren: great-grandson Matthew, three step-grandchildren; three sisters: Debra (Bill) Dotolo, Jeanna Meyer, and Georgia Lindemann; sister-in-law Nancy Hyde; other relatives and friends. Shirley was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers Brian and Virgil Hyde and her sister Judy Brauer. Visitation for Shirley will be held Wednesday, June 19, 2019 from 4-8 p.m. at Vosseteig-Larson Funeral Home, 123 W. Decker Street in Viroqua. Graveside services will take place Thursday, June 20 at 2p.m. at the Viroqua Cemetery. In lieu of flowers or plants, donations to the family appreciated. Shirleys family would like to thank Chaplain Lori Kleppe, Betty Nigh, Vernon County Sheriffs Department and the staff at Vosseteig-Larson Funeral Home for the care they have provided.
