Sonja Whitfield

Sonja Whitfield, 65, of Viroqua, died Friday, December 26, 2014. Sonja K. Whitfield entered into the arms of her heavenly father on December 26th, 2014, after fighting a courageous battle with cancer. She was born to Thomas and Ann (Everson) Eide on October 29th, 1949 in the town of Franklin, Vernon County, WI. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith at the Franklin Church, which she loved so well. She married James Buros and they were later divorced. She married Michael Whitfield on November 18th, 1983. Together they made their home in Viroqua. She worked for the John Klein Agency, worked as a housekeeper for many families, and later worked for Legal Guardianship Services for over 20 years. She was a loyal member of the Franklin Lutheran Church, serving the Lord with her many talents, Sunday School Superintendent, President of the Ladies Group, Treasurer and Secretary of the Ruth Circle, and a Faithful Prayer Partner and Prayer Warrior for her Family. She also was a facilitator in the restoration of the Folsum Community School. She leaves to mourn her passing, a husband, Michael and sons Anthony (Patti) and Nathan (Molly) Buros, Angela Tjaden, and Mike (Michelle) Whitfield. Eleven grandchildren, Beth and Scott Buros, Lauren and Tyler Buros, Erika, Lucas, Nicolaas, Hannah, Samuel Tjaden, Ashley and Alex Whitfield, and great grandchild Melonie Tjaden. Also 3 sisters and one brother, Marlene (Chester) Ostrem, Donna VanFleet, RuthAnn (Nelson) Ward, Steven (Linda) Eide. Special friend Vicki Anderson She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Anne Eide; brother-in-law, Larry VanFleet; niece, Lisa Dutton; nephew, Eric Eide; and son-in-law, Christoffer Tjaden. In Lieu of plants or flowers, donations to the Franklin Church may be made or to a charity of your choice in memorial of Sonja Whitfield. Funeral Services will be held at 11 am on Tuesday, December 30, 2014 at the Franklin Lutheran Church. Pastor Jim Folz will officiate with burial to follow in the Franklin Cemetery. Friends may call on Monday, December 29 from 4-7 pm at the Vosseteig-Larson Funeral Home in Viroqua. Friends may also call at the church on Tuesday from 10 am till the time of service at 11. The Vosseteig-Larson Funeral Home of Viroqua is serving the family.
