Stella B. Schaller

Stella B. Schaller, 96, of Soldiers Grove, passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 17, 2022, at Soldiers Grove Health Services. She was born on January 24, 1926, to Albert and Ingar (Paulson) Offerdahl. Stella lived in a few different states but Nevada and Wisconsin were her home. She owned and operated the The Dugout Café in Soldiers Grove for several years. Stella also worked at Sannes Nursing Home as a cook, Oscar-Meyer in Madison, and was most proud of her work as a caregiver. Her greatest pride and joy was in being a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She enjoyed playing cards and was known as “Mom Schaller” by many people.

Survivors include her children, Larry (Pam Whaley) Schaller, Jerry (Deb) Schaller, Goldie Gardner, Mary Aguirre; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, Kenneth Salmon; sister-in-law, Rose Offerdahl; special niece, Anne Peters; and many nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; three sons, Dennis and Dave Schaller and Casper Grogan; and six siblings.

A Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, December 30, 2022, at Vosseteig-Larson Funeral Home in Viroqua. Pastor Carrie Anderson will officiate. Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will be held at a later date at Kickapoo United Lutheran Church Cemetery.
