Stella Nerison

Stella Nerison, 86, of Westby, died Saturday, October 22, 2016. Stella Nerison, 86, of Westby, WI. passed away Saturday, October 22, 2016 at Norseland Nursing Home. Stella was born June 29, 1930 in Vernon County to John and Sena Olson. She attended Dahlen Country School. She loved taking care of children and caring for the elderly. On October 26, 1950 Stella married Otis Nerison in Caledonia, MN. Together they farmed in the Town of Coon. Stella had a love for raising chickens and she enjoyed the many egg customers whom would stop in to the farm to buy eggs. The coffee pot was always on. Otis and Stella enjoyed only 24 years of marriage before Otiss passing on January 10, 1974. Stella loved to bake and cook and made many varieties of Norwegian baked goods. She enjoyed Bingo and going to the Casino. Stella is survived by two daughters: Delores (Harlan) Melby, and Karen (Peter) Hundt of Westby; two grandchildren: Jeremy (Kim McGregor) and Ben Melby, all of Westby; one special great grandson, Hunter Melby of Westby; along with many nieces and nephews. She is further survived by two canine grand dogs: Ralphy and Riley. In addition to her husband Stella was preceded in death by her parents; nine siblings: Arnold, Otis, Hjalmer, Selmer, and Laurence Olson, Martha Strauss, Loretta Volden, Rudah and her twin sister Judith; and a very special nephew, Rick Olson. The family wishes to express their thanks to the staff at Norseland Nursing Home and to Pastors Dan and Julie Wollman for their wonderful care. In Gods Hands may you rest, In our hearts, you will live forever. Funeral Services will be held at 11am on Wednesday, October 26, 2016 at the Vang Lutheran Church, rural Westby. Pastor Julie Wollman will officiate with burial to follow in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 4-6 pm on Tuesday, October 25, 2016 at the Vosseteig Funeral Home in Westby. Friends may also call at the church on Wednesday from 10 am till the time of service at 11. In lieu of plants or flowers, memorials may be given to the Vang Lutheran Church or to the Bland Bekkedal Center for Hospice Care.
