Stephen Alan Ostrem, age 70, of Coon Valley, died at home Wednesday February 1, 2017. Steve was born in Viroqua on August 6, 1946 to Kenneth and Iona (Holte) Ostrem. He was a graduate of Westby High School. Stephen also served his country in the U.S. Army. He spent most of his life doing what he loved, and that was farming. When he wasnt in the field he was usually in the barn being a mechanic always working on the tractor, the truck or any vehicle. Steve loved to go hunting and fishing and of course with that came his real joy, talking. Nothing suited him better than a good long conversation. Stephen was a wonderful hardworking example of a man that truly loved his grandchildren and everything they did. Stephen is survived today by his children, Connie (Mike) Erickson, Dan Ostrem and Jason Ostrem; grandchildren, Jesse (Ashley Nash) Nash, Cody Nash, Hudson Nash, Addison Clark, Brittany (Terreek) Smith, McKenzie, and the rest of the Ostrems Rose, Brett, Mae, Jacob, Kaden and Aisah; as well as two sisters, Sharon Ostrem and Theresa Watson; and a brother, Greg Ostrem. He was preceded in death by his parents; and his significant love and companion, Sharon Olson. A Memorial Service for Stephen will be held Saturday, February 11, 2017 at 11:30 A.M. at the Vosseteig Funeral Home, 708 S. Main St. in Westby. Pastor Peter Beckstrand of Bethel Lutheran Church will officiate. Friends may call during a visitation one hour prior to the service from 10:30-11:30 Saturday at the Funeral Home.
