Steven A. Collins, age 48 of Gays Mills WI, died Sunday November 3, 2019. On Saturday, November 2, 2019, Steven A. Collins, age 48, died in a vehicle accident near Soldiers Grove. Steve is survived by his three children, Nicholas Collins, Joshua (Rebecca) Collins and Christian Collins; parents Robert (Vickie) Collins and Connie (Roger) Evers; brother, Robert (Casey) Collins Jr.; sisters, Sarah Hoggard and Melinda Figeley; and grandmother, Mary Davis. He is also leaving behind his first grandchild, who is expected in January. He was preceded in death by his father, Richard Figeley; and his daughter, Megan Collins, who both passed in 2001. Steve was a Marine Corps Veteran of the Gulf War, where he was awarded several medals, including the Silver Star, the Presidential Unit Citation, and the Navy Unit Citation. He was born in Beloit, Wisconsin on October 1, 1971 but grew up in Soldiers Grove, WI, where he graduated from North Crawford High School in 1989. After high school, Steve enlisted in the Marine Corps where he served for 8 years from 1990 to 1998. After leaving the Corps, Steve found work in the battery industry, working his way from sales to upper management positions as he transitioned to several different companies, which moved him from California, to Montana, to Washington State, and finally back to his hometown of Soldiers Grove. Friends and family of Steve will remember him for his warm smile, his huge sense of humor, and his friendly and generous nature. He will be greatly missed by all. A 'Celebration of Life' and visitation for Steven will be Saturday November 9, 2019 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Vosseteig Funeral Home, 325 Sunset Ridge Rd and Hwy 131 in Gays Mills. A Time of Sharing and Full Military Honors will begin at 1:00 PM also at the Funeral Home.Funeral.
