Susan A. Ruedisili

July 14, 1944 — May 17, 2024

Susan (Susie) Lynn Anderson Ruedisili, age 79, died Friday, May 17, 2024, in Ferryville, WI. She was born on July 14, 1944, in Fort Huachuca, AZ. She was the eldest daughter of the late Donald Warren Anderson and Marilyn (Dixon) Anderson. She graduated from Madison West High School in 1962. Susan attended Ripon College for one year and then transferred to the University of Wisconsin-Madison where she completed her undergraduate degree in education in 1966. While in college, she met her cherished husband and partner in life, Lon Chester Ruedisili, and they were married in Madison, WI on August 21, 1965.

As a youth, Susan was a nationally ranked speed skater. She later transitioned to figure skating and ice dancing with her lifelong partner Lon. She also developed a passion for hiking, skiing, snow shoeing, cross-country skiing, and traveling the world.

Susan led an effervescent life as an adventurer. She always operated at only one pace: full throttle. During her life, she held various positions that included an elementary school teacher, real estate agent, gemologist, business owner, beekeeper, and conservationist. She was passionate about travel, her family, and being a steward of the farm at Copper Creek. In particular, she loved to entertain and host guests at the farm. Susan had an incredible smile, the gift of gab, and would rarely allow a second of silence. She had a gregarious and outgoing personality and loved to welcome friends, family, and neighbors into her life. She loved various house projects such as sewing, cooking, gardening, and harvesting bounty from her land including leeks, watercress, and wild mushrooms.

She is survived by her son, Stephen Ruedisili and wife, Anne Harbison and their children, Hanna Rose, Zachary, and Margaret of Orono, MN; son, Robert and Heidi (Brose) Ruedisili and their daughter, Charlotte of Cannon Falls, MN; and siblings: Martha (Anderson) Vandeven of Medina, MN, Karry Anderson of Maui, Hawaii, Kathy (Anderson) Switzky of Oregon, WI, and Ron Anderson of Montello, WI. She will be deeply missed by all.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Donald and Marilyn; her beloved husband, Lon; and her grandson, Benjamin Stephen Ruedisili.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, May 31, 2024, at 1:00 pm at Wayzata Community Church, Wayzata, MN to celebrate Sue’s life.
