Susan "Sue" Mashak

Susan “Sue” M. Mashak, age 64, of Westby, WI passed away peacefully at Gundersen Health System with family by her side on February 7th, 2025.

Sue was born on October 9, 1960, to Gerald and Marilyn (Hanson) Schultz. She grew up in Chaseburg on the family farm and attended grade school in Chaseburg and graduated from Westby High School.

On February 14, 1992, she married the love of her life, Brian Mashak, in Cashton. Sue worked various jobs over the years including Hansen’s IGA, the City of Westby, and Town of Christiana.

She fought her cancer for over 9 years, and we were all so proud of the fight she put up. She loved her family more than anything. We will miss her tremendously, but we know she is in God’s hands, free of pain, and joining our parents in Heaven.

She is survived by her husband Brian; her five siblings, Steven (Sandy) Schultz, Kathy Schultz, Robert (Sherry) Schultz, Jeff (Lauri) Schultz, and Peggy Leum. She is also survived by Brian’s children, Jenny (Todd) Nottestad, Justin (Amy) Mashak and Erik (Jennie) Mashak and their children; Brian’s siblings, Bruce, Brent, Brad (Helen) Mashak and Lynn (Jeff) Kohlmeier and their families; her sister-in-law, Bonnie Mashak; and numerous nieces and nephews who adored her.

Sue was preceded in death by her parents, Gerald and Marilyn Schultz; her parents-in-law, Eddie and Verna Mashak; her brother-in-law, Barry Mashak; her brother-in-law, Torkel Leum; and her nephew, Ryan Schultz.

A very special thank you to Dr. Gil Harmon for his compassionate and excellent care of Sue over the last few years.

In lieu of flowers or plants, memorials are preferred.

She was taken from us too soon, but she will live on in our hearts forever.

Rest in peace Sue, until we meet again.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 15, 2025, at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Westby. Visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service. Sue will be laid to rest at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church Cemetery. Online Condolences may be expressed at www.vossfh.com.
