After high school he enlisted in the United States Army and served two years; including a period of time in Germany. Due to his time spent in Germany he was fluent in the German language. For the last five years of his working life Terry was retired, allowing him to focus on the farm, his horses, and numerous projects. Terry enjoyed spending time with his family. He was very honored to have served in the United States Army. Terry attended many rendezvous and was successful in pistol shooting, long riffle shooting, and tomahawk throwing. He enjoyed hunting, as well as fishing, and thoroughly enjoyed any experience he had in the woods. He practiced traditional old time ways of farming with horses and oxen. Terry was a well-known member of the community and enjoyed visiting with people down in his shed.
