The Rev. Dorothy A. Clark, age 75 of LaFarge, died Monday, August 27, 2007 The Rev. Dorothy A. Clark, age 75 of LaFarge, passed away Monday, August 27, 2007 at home surrounded by family after battling cancer for several months. She was born on March 5, 1932 to Clarence and Gladys (Zimmerlee) Johnson in Bloom City, Wi. She attended elementary school in Bloom City through the 8th grade and four years of high school in West Lima, graduating in 1950. Dorothy lived one year in Chicago, Ill while attending Vernard Bible College. In 1951 when the school moved to Iowa, Dorothy moved with and graduated in 1955 as an ordained minister. She took her first church in 1955 at the Wesleyan Church in Hillsboro and pastored there until 1963. She worked one year for the Salvation Army before returning to the ministry at the Free Methodist Church in Livingston from 1964 to 1965. She then came to LaFarge in 1965 where she was the assistant pastor at the Free Methodist Church until 1970. Following her years of ministry, Dorothy was co-owner and operator of the Abundant Life Book Store in Viroqua and Westby from 1981 1998. On July 29, 1968 she was united in marriage to Vernie Clark which was the start of another important role of being a housewife and mother, helping Vernie continue to raise his children after the loss of wife/mother, Pat (Boldon) in 1967. Dorothy is survived by two children she loved as her own; son David (fianc Jane Robinson) of Cashton, daughter Kris (Dan) Felton of Richland Center, and her daughter, Cynthia of Cashton; six grandchildren: Diana and Devin Clark, Ryan and Stephen Felton and Nicolette and Kyle Kast; many nieces and nephews and friends including her beloved companion and pet, Itsy Bitsy. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Vernie on September 9, 1998; four brothers: Bill, Clyde, Gerold and Arthur Johnson; and two sisters: Ella Conat and Zona Steinmetz. Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 31, 2007 at Mt. Pisgah Wesleyan Church, rural Ontario. Pastors Bob Streeter and Mark Phillips will officiate with burial in the Dell Cemetery. Friends may call on Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Vosseteig Funeral Home, 708 S. Hwy 14 in Westby. The Vosseteig Funeral Home of Westby is serving the family.
